DEC 27-29Alyeska Ski/Snowboard Campout:  We will be camping right on the slopes of the Alyeska ski resort, in an indoor chalet right next to Chairlift #3.   Yeah!   This is a great campout, and is always super popular.   This campout is a BLAST, but it takes a lot of work and a lot of parents to make it come together and reach its potential.   We need parents to committ to spending the night at the ski chalet, and helping keep track of this many scouts on the side of a very big mountain.    Adult Coordinator: Stacey Mederios

The rest of the basic plan for December is to have a Christmas Party.

h2oasis_200.jpg (51765 bytes)The basic plan for March is to do two activities.  We are planning to do a beach campout, right on the shores of the H2O Oasis Water Park.    Here will be true "escape campout", with 84-degree temperatures and 350,000 gallons of fun.  The main draw at H20 is the 42-foot ride called the Master Blaster, a "water coaster" that hurtles riders on rubber inner tubes of up to 20 miles per hour through steep drops and hairpin turns. The journey ends mercifully with splash-down in a pool teeming with your friends all laughing from the experience.    Other attractions include a wave pool, a Body Slide and the 575-foot meandering Never Ending River. You can check out details on the water park by taking this link---->H2OasisAdult Coordinator: Sean Gilley

sm757.jpg (846300 bytes)For the older and more experienced guys, we are once again looking at a snow machine trip into the deep Alaskan wilderness.    This adventure is for the older and more experienced scouts in the troop, and to go, you will need to be able to bring a snow machine that is in good shape and have the competency to safety ride the thing.   Trip options include heading down the Yentna River or hitting the hills in Petersville.    As we get closer to the adventure, the trip details will be finalized.  Yeah!   Adult Coordinator: Wayne Plumb

scamp2.jpg (124917 bytes)abe6587.jpg (284602 bytes)The basic plan for July is to attend summer camp at Camp Gorsuch, at the same time that the older scouts will be leaving for the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.  For many scouts, they say that their trip to the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico was the towering event of their entire scouting experience.   As of August 2008 we had 24 guys signing up for 24 slots throughout the council, with several more on a standby list.    But, if you think you might want to still go, there is a decent chance that some additional slots could become available, so its not too late to put your name on the standby list.   The 2009 Trek will depart Anchorage on July 19th, 2009, and return home on August 5th.    To go, scouts must have a full uniform and be at least 14 years old not later than July 23, 2009.   Here are some links related to this upcoming adventure:
